A 41-year-old man died after being shot during an argument in Brownsville, an incident recorded by nearby surveillance cameras, Miami-Dade County.
Raul Aballe, 41, was fatally shot during an argument with another man near NW 38th Street in Brownsville, an unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County, on the evening of August 18, 2026. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 5:38 p.m. and found Aballe wounded; he later died at a hospital. The suspect fled the scene and has not been caught.
A dispute between two men on a Brownsville street turned fatal Monday evening when one pulled a gun and shot the other, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office. Surveillance cameras near the scene captured the sound of the gunshot as it happened.
Deputies said they responded to the area of 3316 NW 38th Street around 5:38 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The man was identified as 41-year-old Raul Aballe.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the shooting grew out of an argument between Aballe and another man. During that argument, the second man pulled out a gun, shot Aballe, and ran from the scene. He has not been identified publicly and remains at large.
Surveillance footage obtained by NBC6 shows the moment a single gunshot rings out. The footage does not show the shooter's identity, and deputies have not released a description of him.
A friend of Aballe's, who did not want to be identified, told NBC6 she was with him at the time of the shooting and tried to physically separate the two men as the argument escalated. She said she stepped between them and told them to stop, saying it wasn't worth it. Her effort did not stop the shooting.
She described Aballe as being like a brother to her and said he and the other man knew each other and had a strained relationship before the shooting. Deputies have not confirmed whether the two men had a prior relationship or history of conflict, and the Sheriff's Office has not released additional details about what sparked the argument.
"Please, we need to find this killer, and the gun violence needs to stop," the friend said.
Brownsville is an unincorporated community in northwest Miami-Dade County, bordered by Liberty City and West Little River. County commissioners and community groups have pushed for more violence-intervention programs and economic investment there in recent years. The Sheriff's Office has not released crime data comparing this shooting to others in the area.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office has not announced any arrests. Detectives are treating the shooting as a homicide investigation and are asking anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the shooter to contact them. No reward amount or tip line specific to this case had been announced as of Tuesday.
Deputies have not said whether Aballe and the shooter lived in the same neighborhood or had crossed paths before Monday.
