Michelin-starred Tambourine Room and Española Way's Tropezón close in Miami Beach the same week

Two Miami Beach restaurants, one with a Michelin star and the other a longtime fixture on Española Way, announced their closures in the same week, leaving diners with little warning.

Tambourine Room by Tristan Brandt, a Michelin-starred tasting-menu restaurant inside the Carillon Miami Wellness Resort, and Tropezón, an Andalusian gin and tapas bar on Española Way, both posted closure notices on Instagram on Wednesday, September 30.

Tambourine Room served its final dinner that same night. Tropezón said it would serve its last dinner on Saturday, October 3.

Neither restaurant gave a reason for closing in its announcement. The suddenness of Tambourine Room's closure, a Michelin-starred restaurant shutting its doors the day it made the announcement, caught many customers off guard.

The twin closings arrive just weeks after another prominent Miami Beach restaurant disappeared from the dining scene. Yardbird Southern Table & Bar, known for its fried chicken and bourbon, shut its original South Beach location in August after 15 years on Lenox Avenue.

Yardbird's parent company has since filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware, according to court filings. The company owes $25 million in secured debt and is preparing for a potential sale, though its restaurants in Dallas, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Las Vegas, and Singapore remain open.

Yardbird's Miami closure was described at the time as a "short-term goodbye," but no reopening plans have been announced. The loss of Tambourine Room and Tropezón adds to a stretch of upheaval for Miami Beach's restaurant scene, which has seen several high-profile exits in recent months.

Tropezón, with its Spanish-inspired small plates and gin-focused bar, had become a staple along the pedestrian-friendly stretch of Española Way. Tambourine Room, led by chef Tristan Brandt, offered a high-end tasting menu in an intimate setting inside the Carillon wellness resort, earning a Michelin star for its work.
