Doral Oktoberfest canceled Oct. 1-3 over ICE fears after ticket holders paid up to $119.99

Organizers canceled the three-night Downtown Doral Oktoberfest that had been set for Thursday, October 1, to Saturday, October 3, saying community members are living in fear amid increased ICE presence. The event had been planned for the Pocket Park with Bavarian-style food, beer, and live performances by the Groove Brothers.
Downtown Doral announced the cancellation September 24 in English and Spanish. In the statement, organizers said, “It is with a heavy heart that we watch the terrible challenges facing our South Florida community, as we feel deeply for those living in fear.”
They added that the event was meant to unite residents, but “in light of the current circumstances, we have decided that now is not the time to bring everyone together.”
Although admission had been listed as free, premium passes sold for up to $119.99 and included vouchers redeemable at food stands and participating Downtown Doral restaurants. Downtown Doral said all ticket holders have been refunded in full.
The cancellation affects a scheduled stretch of public programming that had been promoted as a fall gathering for the Doral area, with local businesses tied to the pass perks. No replacement dates were announced.
